TILE ADHESIVE

Basic tile adhesive for medium-size tiles

Reliable quality from Cemix

  • For porcelain stoneware and ceramic tiles of medium size.
  • For light loads: suitable for kitchens, living rooms, and corridors.
  • C1: Adhesive strength ≥ 0.5 MPa. Suitable for a wide temperature range.
  • T: Reduced slip. Suitable for tiling from top to bottom. Ensures easy and secure fixing of tiles on walls.
  • Frost-resistant in dry indoor environments.
  • Not suitable for underfloor heating systems.

Area of application

  • Indoor: floor + wall

Processing method

  • For hand processing
  • Basic tile adhesive for medium- and high-absorbent ceramic tiles and decorative brick facings.
  • Intended for interior finishing works in dry rooms and designed for laying ceramic tiles on walls and floors in residential and public areas with light service loads, such as kitchens, living rooms, hallways, and similar zones. Not suitable for use on heated substrates, under conditions of temperature-induced deformations, or for outdoor applications.

Processing details

Substrate requirement

The substrate must comply with the applicable standards, must be solid, free of loose particles, free of dust, paint, residues of demoulding agents and efflorescence. It must be sufficiently rough, dry and evenly absorbent. The surface shall not be frozen or water-repellent. The substrate shall be stable in volume and have required flatness.

Substrate preparation

Depending on the water absorption of the substrate and climatic conditions, the following actions may be required: use Cemix 2613 PRIMER on absorbent substrates. Roughen smooth substrates if necessary.

For uneven substrates, follow this installation procedure: apply the adhesive to the surface according to the instructions and also to the back of the tile (buttering method). Level all substrate irregularities using suitable Cemix materials and allow them to dry and cure. The substrate must comply with applicable regulations, standards, or the material manufacturer’s recommendations.

Preparation of the mixture

Pour 25 kg of CEMIX 8200 TILE ADHESIVE into 4.75 – 5.5 liters of clean water. Mix for 5 minutes using a slow-speed paddle mixer until a homogeneous, lump-free mixture is obtained. Allow the mixture to rest for 3 minutes, then briefly mix again.

Processing instructions

First, apply a thin layer of adhesive to the substrate using a straight-edge stainless steel trowel. Then apply a sufficient amount of adhesive with the notched side of the trowel, preferably in one direction.

Lay the tiles and adjust their position within the open time.

If the open time is exceeded, do not lay the tiles. In this case, the applied adhesive must be removed.

For uneven substrates, follow this installation procedure: apply adhesive to the substrate according to the instructions and also to the back of the tile.

Approximate consumption: 1.55  kg/m² per 1 mm layer thickness (consumption may vary depending on substrate type, surface evenness, and application method).
Use at temperatures between +5 and +35 °C.

Clean the tiles from adhesive using a sponge and clean water.

Treatment after application

Non-absorbent tiles prolong the curing period.
Avoid sun, heat, humidity and draughts. Protect from frost. Direct heating of the surface is not permitted.

Tool and cleaning instructions

After finishing work, wash the tools immediately with clean water. Remove dried residues mechanically.
Smaller deposits can be removed with acetic (diluted acetic acid) or a special cement paint cleaner.
